Mark Zuckerberg
Started Harvard in 2002 where he initially created a program in his sophomore year called CourseMatch which allowed users to make class selection decisions and form study groups based on the choices of other students. Some time later he created Facemash which allowed students to select the best looking person from a group of photos. He created this for 'fun'. It was put over a weekend but was shut down by Harvard on the Monday because it stopped students from accessing the web due to it's popularity. At the time student's were after a website where they could get the same sort of information they could get from Facemash and the existing network that Harvard had. As Harvard wouldn't do it Zuckerberg decided he would. This lead to the first version of Facebook.
